Sad. Just sad.

The NYT has grown markedly more Center-Right under the editorship of Dean Baquet, so much so that I’ve stopped reading it. I’ve sent several emails to him asking why this is, that were it not for Charles Blow, I would end my 30-year should subscription. Haven’t heard back yet.

unfortunately NYT management doesn't seem very interesting in hearing critiques from the Left. but yes, Charles Blow is a great columnist.

The NYT has never been better than centre right o.0 I've always been baffled about Americans who think the NYT is a lefty paper - the NYT is an /establishment/ paper. Always has been - the very nickname is 'the Grey Lady'. This /by definition/ means you're a right-wing news organ; protecting the status quo, protecting the privilege of rich white folks (i.e. the Establishment) is literally what being right wing means.

Now, in the specific case of America, y'all haven't got a left at all; the furthest left your Overton Window goes is Bernie Sanders, who is at best a moderate centre-left. Your actual centerists - Warren, the self-described capitalist. is a good example - get decried as radical left wingers. Your centre-right politicians - Obama, Biden, both Clintons - /also/ get called radical leftwingers.

Then there's a huge gap, and then you get the far right (Murkowski & company), the revolutionary and radical right ('mainstream' GOP) and the actual, ethnofascist, Jim Crow lunatic right (Trump, the Freedom Caucus, 80% of the GOP voting base).

Y'all have been without a viable left wing since Chicago '68, and as a result you've all forgotten what one even looks like - with the commensurate result that America as a whole thinks being Steve King is acceptable in public.

a lot of the branding re: NYT being Left newspaper comes from GOP, which has targeted all media as “liberal” in effort to intimidate

Mr. Blow, Krugman, Sopan Deb, and Jamelle Bouie are pretty much the last saving graces of the paper for me at this point. The actual news department has bent the knee and the editorial department is largely just a vehicle for Bret Stephens and David Brooks at this point

the DC bureau is the problem. the rest of the paper is often exceptional

NYT's sports, theatre, lit review and science pages are typically very good indeed. It's their opinion, op-ed and Washington bureaus that are relentlessly committed to making it sound like it's acceptable to be a Republican.

LOL! Is this the same Failing New York Times DJT is always deriding? Or, perhaps I should ask, is this the Twilight Zone??

NYT deserves plenty of serious criticism from the Left. what Trump does is demagoguery

I use the term 'fascism' as the most accurate description of our current government. MSM flees from the term, even commentators are often reluctant to state the obvious. We are not 'leaning towards monarchy', we are in the midst of a fascist coup, and whether by religion, nationality, race, or political persuasion, few of us are safe in the short or long-term, if Democrats fail to reclaim the presidency and the Senate. It's immeasurably bleak, but we must be clear about the stakes. I read a newsletter today that stated, unironically, that the media was 'between stories'. The only story is fascism.

omgosh, MSM won’t even call Trump a “liar” most of the time, let alone use accurate descriptions to detail his anti-democratic rule.

Lawrence O'Donnell was the first one I heard to have the cajones to call him that, and he hasn't stopped yet!! I love how he intones things like "Today was another day when Donald Trump said something, so of course, today was another day when Donald Trump lied!

Stephanie Miller on Free Speech TV was the first one to say "It's all about Russia, folks!" years before mainstream media were even opening their minds to such a nefarious possibility.

I try to get my info from a variety of sources; Christian Science Monitor is a good one to quote from, when 'interacting' w/the faux Christians....it appears to irk them for some reason LOL!!!!!!

If enough of us bluntly speak the truth, it will be harder and harder for MSM to deny reality.

I (by Eric Boehlert, articleknow this clip was widely viewed when first posted on Twitter. It captured NBC's Heidi Przybyla as she refused to play the GOP impeachment game and pretend the answers given by Republicans made any kind of sense. But I want to share it again because it's important to note that this is what coverage could have looked like for weeks if more journalists had been serious about holding Republicans accountable, and not let them offer up nonsensical answers to serious impeachment questions.

At this point, the New York Times isn’t even useful to wrap fish.

I've said it rather regularly especially when it comes to the Times, but at some point, complicity becomes more likely than simple laziness or naivete.

agree 100%....these are generally smart people at the Times. they don’t make same newsroom “mistake” over and over

I don't know how to get rid of this, my first attempt to post something; unlike my other posts, it does not give me the 'delete' option!
