The AZ secretary of state said the "audit" has compromised the state's voting apparatus to the extent that significant changes in machinery and procedure will have to be implemented to ensure the integrity of the next election. AZ taxpayers should be enraged and should bill My Pillow for the costs. And while the media is happy to quote Republicans and tools like Joe Manchin saying they won't vote for "partisan bills," where is the push back about the GOP's partisan bills suppressing the vote?

plus, ballots have been compromised

I wrote what you wrote and then scrolled down to find your comment. I agree it's the broken chain of custody which renders machines unusable in the future. At what cost and to whom? But they sure have colorful t-shirt tableau, eh?

Imagine the outrage if the super bowl final score was "audited" by a group of sports bar patrons, and supported by a coalition of team owners and television networks. They could review every play from dozens of new and never-before-seen camera angles, re-examine the whole event including the military fly-over (the slot guy lagged a bit on the break), and though they couldn't change the final score, the poor Zebras would be running for cover, getting death threats, and stadiums would have to hire armed goons to keep the fans from rioting and killing each other at every game.

and I don’t think sports press would call it an “audit”

Knowledgeable people know that what is going on in Arizona is a federal crime. Where is the DOJ?

Agreed. I’m wondering who ‘owns’ our ballots once they’ve been OFFICIALLY counted and added to the vote totals. The idea of extreme partisans with no official agency having their hands on these ballots seems incredible to me. Indeed, where is the DOJ?

With all due respect, WTF is a "conservative extremist"? I sincerely appreciate your efforts to hold the big corporate media outlets responsible for the language they use in their headlines and their articles, but the "media watchdogs" have to also practice what they preach. The right-wing-nut racist bigots and religious fanatics who have hijacked the Republican Party are NOT "conservative" and it is very important that people consistently get that message loud and clear. A true "Conservative" would never agree to waste millions of dollars of public money conducting a fraudulent "audit" of an already determined and thoroughly-litigated election, AND do so at the expense of their hard-working taxpayer constituents. That is a point I rarely hear made that needs to be hammered home relentlessly by the media and all the true "conservative" politicians.

This is how democracies fall. The Arizona fraudit is undermining the belief that our elections are free and fair. In fact our elections for many have never been free and fair but now the right wing is just blatantly attacking our election process in the open and with the media's witting or unwitting assistance. This is a strategy the Republican Party is embracing because in a fair election, they lost and they will continue to lose. They are out of touch with a country who's majority is becoming more and more progressive. Yet with a system of representation that disproportionately represents underpopulated areas of the country, a minority is given powers they should not have. Trump is gone but the mess he helped ignite is still with us.

Republicans have been deliberately lying about voter fraud for years in order to undermine faith in our elections. Now Republicans are using that baseless lack of trust that they created in their base as a reason to justify their audits and voting restrictions.

The media likes to bury the story about Dubya’s DOJ firing Bush-appointed US attorneys for refusing to bring bogus voter fraud cases against Democrats. The media prefer to pretend that it was Trump, not mainstream Republicans, who have been dismantling our democracy. I also noticed that the media didn’t bother to mention that the extremist judge who ruled that California’s assault weapons ban was unconstitutional by comparing an AK to a Swiss army knife was appointed by Dubya, not Trump. The WaPo’s humor columnist Alexandra Petri’s column“ Why have a Swiss Army knife when you could just buy an AR-15?” puts the insanity of that thinking into perspective.

Why it sure is as Pennsylvania's Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman has pointed out. In the 2020 election Pennsylvania uncovered a total of...wait for it there, Brian!...THREE CASES OF VOTER FRAUD IN THE WHOLE COMMONWEALTH!

And guess what, Brian?

ALL THREE OF THOSE CASES INVOLVE A PERSON WHO VOTED FOR TRUMP!

But I'm sure that Fox, Newsmax and OANN don't tell you that!

Fetterman is still calling out TX Lt Gov Dan Patrick, who offered a million dollars to anyone who turned up verified fraud. Patrick has yet to respond.

What's really interesting is that most people who don't see the real problem cite sources from the political class or MSM. My info comes from others, like MIT scientists and alternative media sources. But, I understand that those who buy into the MSM narrative actually believe the speak truth. And, those in the political class just want to remain a member of The Club. They'll say whatever will keep them in that position. Here's something interesting and something that has never happened in the entire history of U.S. presidential elections - on the evening of Nov. 3rd, EVERY BATTLEGROUND STATE STOPPED COUNTING VOTES. Why? And, they continued counting the morning of Nov. 4th. And, like a miracle, Joe Biden somehow received tens or hundreds of thousands of votes that morning and was suddenly in the lead. That is a fact. You likely won't believe that, but that doesn't make it not true. It is an irrefutable, undeniable fact.

Expand full comment

Oh and Brian you're not including that state legislatures in those battleground states FORBADE the counting of any mail-in ballots until the polls closed.

But do keep reciting those talking points you're getting from the 24/7 Republican BS Machine!

Ignoring history in 1948 when Dewey was in the lead on Election Night but in the wee hours of the morning Truman votes came flooding in.

But do keep up reciting Republican talking points, Brian so we can point out the inaccuracies that you ignore.

Not ignoring history. That was in 1948, and you've just made my point for me. Why do you think that the same thing couldn't happen now? And, we're talking about multiple battleground states simultaneously. Coincidence, I guess.

Voter fraud is a real crime, if that's what you mean. It isn't a real danger to the integrity of our elections, no. All of the real and *potentially real* voter fraud effects less than .01% of ballots, so unless you are very careful about your context, to say "voter fraud is a real thing" is simply a lie. "Jim Crow 2.0" is far more real, AND an existential threat to the integrity of our elections and *our democracy as a whole*.

Thanks for your time. Hope it helps.

Thanks Eric--I'll do you one better, let's call it a crime. Because it's a crime,-as Merrick Garland has declared.

On February 9 the Trump appointed USAtty Michael Bailey resigned based on Biden's request. Anthony Martin became acting USAtty, approx. March 1-April 24. So, the obvious question here for the press to be asking?

Following Martin Glenn McCormick became acting USAtty on April 24, 2021. And, well, what is he doing? The US District of Arizona has a sub division of the Criminal Division called the Public Integrity unit, specifically tasked with prosecution of "election-related" offenses.

I mean, the criminal activity is on TV.

Eric Holder recently urged the Justice Department to get aggressive about this audit but most of the media has chosen to ignore what he said. Did you see that the DOJ is till defending Trump agains E. Jean Carroll’s defamation suit because Trump defamed her when he was president but not when the rape occurred (allegedly) ? So if you are president you can slander people even though you are not doing it in your role as president?

Off topic but I just heard a WH reporter on Morning Joe tell Willie that the fact that Biden has decided to stop negotiating with Republicans on an infrastructure bill. She said that this confirmed Republicans’ suspicions that Biden’s push from bipartisanship was just posturing!! How can anyone take the idea that it is Biden, not the Republicans, who are playacting and being bipartisan?

Yes, I saw that on morning Joe too, the new story line of the day, Biden play acting, partisan; Rs honest and sincere. Oy.

If you didn't get a chance to watch Rachel last night check out the video clips where she just takes Garland to the woodshed and schools Joe about not learning the lesson that Republicans are hell bent on kneecapping him.

As for Theodora's last point--The Republican 24/7 BS machine on Fox, OANN and Newsmax is cranked up to 11 repeating the lie that Democrats are turning America into the Soviet Union and Antifa caused the 1/6 coup.

Those same lies are repeated in the right wing churches my relatives get their weekly brainwashing from.

When I am at the gym in the morning, "The Faulkner Report" is on one of the monitors, and it's such obvious Nazi propaganda. But for years Fux Noise "reporters" claimed that outside of the prime-time Goebbels gang, they were doing journalism. So that brings us to the real issue: Those who are supposed to be real journalists continuing to view the people at FUX as though they are journalists when they are not, and letting them help drive the narrative. Of course, Peter Douchey is too obtuse to realize that Jen Psaki is both satirizing and mocking him.

I totally agree, Eric. There is a problem with the headlines normalizing what is essentially after-the-fact election fraud/tampering.

There is also an optics problem if —as others here have pointed out— the DOJ comes crashing down. It will look like their beloved boogyman “The Deep State” is suppressing their attempt to "find out what’s going on."

Maybe the term our Failed Political Press ™ should use is “fishing trip.” I dunno, I’m stumped as to how to define a mass hysteria.

I disagree Kevin. The AZ Republicans are in violation of the law. And the Ninjas refuse to disclose the source of their funding. It is a problem, moving towards a trend, and we risk it becoming acceptable to violate Election law.

Was waiting to hear the evidence behind why this "audit" is illegitimate. Reading left-leaning msm headlines is hardly backing up your case. Of course they agree with your presupposition. You just sound like a broken record in an echo chamber. Also, recounting ballots is still a recount even if it wasn't a close election. If this audit is illegitimate, I want to know why. And your expose isn't helping to actually elucidate the issue.

Interesting how you are wetting your pants over the election audit. Why is it such a big deal? If you're so confident that it's a farce why not just let it go on and allow the other side to make fools of themselves? It's common sense. A primary tenet of the Art of War is to NEVER stop your enemy from destroying themselves. I know why you're trying to convince people that the audit should stop - it's because you're mortified that the truth will come out. Well, something's comin' and you can't stop it. Cheers!

If the vote audit in Maricopa county was a true violation of election law it wouldn't be happening. I'm guessing it's some CNN/MSNBC or FNC commentator who said that. I'll be clear - I have a distaste for both parties. I don't think either of them are looking out for my best interests. But the only way that Biden could have won is if he got MORE votes than Barack Obama did in 2012. That didn't happen. I could go over various statistical anomalies (the kind that are pretty much mathematical impossibilities) for the next two hours with you, but it still wouldn't convince you or even get you to consider what I'm sharing. But, I can say this much - when the MSM media promoted bogus narratives for 4 years and establishment Repubs fought a pro-America agenda, it got my attention. I've learned to look at who a politician's enemies are as one litmus test as to their validity. But, that's just me.

In a letter to AZ GOP Senate President Karen Fann, the head of the Civil Rights Division said the AZ Senate’s mishandling of 2.1 million ballots from the state’s most populous county to a contractor (Ninja!!!) is inconsistent with federal law requiring ballots to remain in the control of elections officials for 22 months. To say nothing of the handling of laptops containing sensitive voter information.

It doesn't take two hours to explain your position, but a link to the MIT data you mentioned is fine, Brian.
