Great again! I always share these on social media, and deeply admire the wonderful work that Mr. Boehlert is doing.

I also was reminded of history (as a history professor, I suppose that's an occupational hazard). Does anybody remember that republicans similarly were opposed to any kind of government during the Clinton administration, and the media--admittedly not then including some of the outlets we have now--similarly did not do their jobs?

When I saw the headline of this article the first thing I thought of was the protests against the Iraq War so I googled it. I had no idea that the international protest of that war in February ‘03 is considered the largest protest in history - and I was paying close attention. The media really downplayed the coverage.

These shutdown protests are tiny and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the protesters had been paid by people like Betsy DeVos and her Brother Eric Prince. If I remember correctly the Koch Brothers funded the rise of the Tea Party although they denied it. The media treated the Tea Party like it was a true grass roots movement of people they see as “real Americans” not as the astroturf movement that it really was.
