When future historians write about the destruction of the United States as a major democracy, the press will rightfully be portrayed as a major factor as to why it happened. If the election gets postponed and a year from now Trump is the guest who won't leave, these so called journalists will still be showing up at bogus press conferences like the lapdogs they appear to be. Of all the horrible things that Trump has done perhaps the worst of all has been enabling him to do so by a broken Fourth Estate.

"It's worse when they get used willingly." ~ I'd change to "It's worse when the press is complicit." We can no longer pretend that the press is somehow being naively pushed around after 3+ years; they are complicit and cooperating. We must hold the press more accountable and I agree with Theodora30 that Jonathan Karl needs to be replaced with any of the numerous female journos who are much less susceptible to bullying.

How pathetic that they can’t even stand up for their own health. Jonathan Karl should be voted out and Yamiche Alcindor put in his place.

Meanwhile faux balance rears its ugly head at CNN. Here is what Jake Tapper said in his interview with Colin Powell:

“There are a lot of independent voters out there, or moderates, Democrats and Republicans, who might be concerned that the Democratic Party is drifting too far to the left. “

Tapper couched his statement in a weaselly “some people might say” format so his factual accuracy can’t be disputed. Apparently he doesn’t feel the need to point out that those people are mistaken. Democrats have chosen the more moderate candidate by large margins both in 2016 and again this year which sure seems to be evidence against the claim that both parties have moved to the extremes but why abandon a favorite narrative just because the facts don’t support it, amirite?

1) Media owners/executives will not do anything to jeopardize their friends in power, especially Republicans, who pass those tax cuts that benefits them; 2) Journalists will not do anything to jeopardize their ability to get invited to the "right" cocktail parties, usually Republicans; 3) Journalists know that punching Democratic administrations in the face, will still not hurt them as Democrats generally take the beating without complaining and will not fire back like Republicans do. "They're (media) are just doing their jobs.

"Both sides" just gives an obscene validity to "alternative facts".
