Money is everything, but it is not the only thing. Think about it. Your company has been crushed by these assholes. Do you let them off with a simple monetary settlement or do you demand more?

You really don't get it. Money is the only thing. Corporations aren't companies, they are the owners of companies. But they aren't alive, they have no conscience, no thoughts, no demands, they simply own property, and hire people to protect and turn a profit on that property. I'm not saying this to denigrate corporations, I'm simply stating the actual fact, as well as the legal premise. If I owned stock in a corporation, I would not want it to chase political goals, let alone emotional ones like retribution.
So yeah, you're still missing the point, and you're missing it so badly you don't even know what direction it is in. Fox will offer a huge settlement to avoid discovery, and both Dominion and Smartmatic will both definitely accept it rather than continue suing in order to pursue some other end than $$$, because corporations don't have ends other than $$$. There is no uncertainty about any of it.
Oh, I get your point. I just think you are being short sighted. These corporations were nearly destroyed by the mendacity of Fox, Giuliani, Powell, Wood and others. The management and shareholders are going to want to be sure that this doesn't happen again. And with Fox, money is no object. Murdoch is worth billions, do you actually think he will be deterred by a $1B or $2B payout?
I was wondering when this thread would end, and your final observation seemed like a good place to finally weigh in, Peter. Max made a few good points, most of which you parried well, but his underlying premises are, dare I say, flawed.
Having actually read the lawsuits that have been filed by Dominion and Smartmatic against the virtual rogue's gallery of liars, cheats and thieves at Faux News, and the soon to be former attorneys who have irreparably stained the legal profession; after having spent much of my life representing corporations in civil cases, I can state with certainty that there is no legal requirement whatsoever, none, that would make it illegal for Dominion or Smartmatic to stuff these suits so far up Rupert Murdoch's ass that his great grandchildren will be feeling the pain.
The lawyers who filed these cases and the Boards of Directors of both corporations are packing some serious gear. They can do whatever they wish now, including pursuing discovery until the cows come home, and they can require as a condition of any settlement that Faux admit liability and tell them that there will be no confidentiality clause in any release. Otherwise, time to saddle up, Rupert.
As for Mr. Devlin's insistence that corporations are just money, I would suggest that he read all of the cases from the Supreme Court that stand for the ludicrous proposition that, as Mitt Romney stated with his usual tone deafness in 2012: "Corporations are people, my friend."
And until that patently wrong body of law is overruled, Dominion and Smartmatic can do whatever they wish. I, for one, I am looking forward to it. Thus far, all that's been shown by NewsCorpse's lawyers is that they only know how to do one thing: Get their asses kicked by superior lawyers who are representing responsible corporate citizens.
