While they are it they can turn around their coverage of Trump supporters, you know, all of those sanitized "Liberals need to understand why they are so angry" pieces. Amazingly enough, those reporters never happened upon any of the white supremacy guys toting military hardware. What we liberals need to understand is how they are recruited and what media outlets they listen to.

Republicans have been exploiting racism for decades now, and media are happy to look the other way.

Ignoring the dark side of Trump’s base while interviewing white voters in Midwestern diners has def been a disturbing hallmark

I have never seen an article about the anger felt by people like me who have watched Republicans viciously smear the people I support and spend millions of our tax dollars on investigations of those lies. The Clintons murdered Vince Foster, Gore was a big liar, Kerry lied to get his war medals, Obama was not born in the US, the highly rated Clinton Foundation was corrupt, Hillary sent all kinds of super secret things on her email, Biden broke the law to help his son’s business in Ukraine......

We still hear about all those Trump voters we should be working so hard to understand but not the millions of Hillary supporters who feel cheated.

Eric, we can’t take this anymore. The pain, the anger and fear. It’s all too much. Is it too naive of me to pine for the days of Walter Cronkite? I know America was just as racist then, but we didn’t consume media to the degree we do now. There is nothing normal about this presidency, about the extraordinary time we are witnessing and the passion it elicits. We need all journalists to stop trying to pretend this human blow torch is anything other than what he is- a disaster.

I think refusing to be honest w/ the American people abt who Trump is (“racist,” “liar”) has been the media’s biggest failure

Also, the “backers in blue” is inaccurate and obscures today’s reality of policing. Generally speaking, they don’t wear blue anymore. “Backers in black” both reflects current reality and dispenses with the gauzy view of friendly cop. Think of Norman Rockwell’s painting of the cop and the runaway kid at the soda fountain. Probably was a myth but images like that inform perceptions.

I am impressed by how many whites people seem to be attending those protests. And the protests are international.

I noticed yesterday that the protests seems to be morphing over time

I attended a protest in Morristown NJ on Saturday with my daughter. Black, White, Hispanic, standing side by side (socially distanced of course). It inspired hope in me to see so many diverse people all sharing the same anger, frustration, and love. As long as we can have a somewhat fair election I think we can rid ourselves of this malignant cancer called Trump in November. At least that remains my hope.

The rally in Morristown was in the evening and remained peaceful. Morristown is a large town but not a city, not a place where coordinated white nationalist actors would consider interrupting because of the lack of media coverage. Larry Ham (D) running against Cory Booker for Senate spoke and was amazing. He's likely not going to beat incumbent Booker but will be a force in politics in the future.

glad to hear abt the wonderful rally. Truth is there are so many across the country, but the violence/looting grabs the headlines
