Maybe Bragg is just didn’t want to anger the Wall Street crowd who hate to see any rich person held accountable for financial shenanigans. I bet a lot of them were big donors to his election campaign.

The previous Manhattan DA, Cyrus Vance, overruled his own prosecutors to let Ivanka and Don Jr. off the hook for real estate fraud despite having solid evidence of their guilt. Trump’s lawyer Marc Kasowitz, one of Vance’s biggest donors, negotiated directly with Vance. Vance returned Kasowitz’s donation but just a few months later Vance received an even larger donation from him.

Unfortunately New York’s state district attorneys are elected. To win in the Manhattan district takes money from big, powerful donors.

He ran on the issue. IMO he is a spineless coward who worries more about his own ego and reputation than actual justice.

His reputation with whom? By declining to prosecute he has almost certainly ensured he will not be reelected in the very liberal Manhattan District. The only thing that makes sense besides outright corruption is that he is more concerned about his reputation with the powerful Wall Street crowd that hates prosecutions for tax evasion.

So, bribed then. Or maybe a couple of Russian mobsters paid him a visit? Or both?
