I do understand their need to have good sources is bound to present conflicts for them but there is no excuse for pulling your punches because you want to be accepted into the club of the powerful.
The other sources of bias that he describes — false equivalence, preference for the status quo and failing to cover options to policy choices are worth reading about too.
