Ugh. As I feared the media doesn’t seem to have learned from its past mistakes. These were two of the top headlines in yesterday’s WaPO:

“Reality lies in wait for Biden’s bold campaign promises”, “Harris allies wonder anxiously: Will she have real clout?” Today’s top headlines are all about Trump except for this one: As Trump’s efforts on Iran falter Biden will fact a more assertive Iran”.

Maybe I am overreacting but it is driving me crazy that the media focus is still mostly on Trump’s antics or on negative projections for Biden, implying he will fail, won’t really treat Harris as a partner, will have mysterious unknown forces that will thwart him, etc. The Post actually has a headline saying that “The feud among Trumps’ kids shows this family won’t let us move on”!! As if the media is powerless to stop giving these people constant attention. I understand that it would be irresponsible for the media to paint an overly rosy picture of what Biden can accomplish but there is a lot he can do. He is already planning to make a lot of important changes that will be within his power. He has announced he will invoke the Defense Production Act to ramp up needed PPE and tests. Why isn’t that the headline? I read that wants enough testing that they will be easy for every to get and results will be much faster.

When the media reports on the challenges Biden faces they should make it clear that it will be Mitch and his fellow Republicans that will be standing in the way of fixing things. But they also need to put the spotlight on the things Biden can do that he is already addressing, not all the ways he is likely to fail. If the media’s emphasis is on what Biden doesn’t accomplish and downplays the Republican obstruction that stands in his way not what he does accomplish Republicans will be empowered in the midterms. In fact as I am writing this there is a report on television about all the restaurants that will fail with no mention of how that stimulus bill that Republicans refuse to pass could save them.

Good point abt GOP obstruction !

The media has never called out Mitch and the GOP for anything. The media needs to take their head out of the sand because they still are not doing their job for America, just themselves it all comes down to ratings and greed.

CNN appears to be sloughing off the fact that they are constantly attacked from the presidential podium. The tail she is between the legs, n'est-pas?

I am more than a little tired of all the media attention on understanding Trump supporters and why they are angry. I think we can categorize those stories as “grievance porn”.

When are we going to get stories about how they are angry about lies that have been told to them? Like I've said before, right wingers STILL call our 2016 candidate "Killary" and the newest bullshit is that blue states endorse their cities burning down. (they're not burning down, no one endorsed what looting and vandalism there was, and our eyes are open to the fact that much of it was caused by white nationalist or police plants.)

Great way to frame their whining.

To the list of atrocities you can add Dr. Atlas urging people to rise up against Michigan Governor Whitmer’s lock down order, even as case numbers rise.

Mainstream Media on telling it like it is: “Don’t frighten the horses.” Somewhere there’s an endless loop of Jack Nicholson saying “You can’t handle the truth!”

Atlas is truly frightening, indeed

CNN's new slogan should be, "I vuss in Argentina durink the var," because CNN helped create the monster pictured below and that it describes. Yes, Jake Tapper and Jim Acosta and Don Lemon and Christiane Amanpour and Anderson Cooper and Manu Raju are known to push the rock up the mountain, but then you have Wolf Blitzer and Chris Cillizza and the entire executive corps to push it back down.

Coincidentally, our leader often shares music he likes, and this time includes Jason Isbell, who is all right, but above all just resigned from the Country Music Association when its awards show salute to artists who have died didn't mention John Prine. I'd throw in that they also didn't bother with Harold Reid of the Statler Brothers, the most awarded group in country music history, or Jimmy Capps, who merely played guitar on the Opry and in sessions for 60 years.

Yesterday I also saw a headline that Biden won't be embracing any progressive agenda and his cabinet choices are warhawks. That's not great news, and I want his administration to prosecute the Trump crime family crimes, but at this point I'm happy that Trump and Co. are going away. I am exhausted by fighting the lies that the other side believes. The story of the North Dakota nurse whose patients don't believe they have Covid and keep yelling at her. The notion that "dead people" voted for Biden. And there can be no reconciliation because the left has "attacked Trump" for 4 years. Half the country is really this blind?

I’d hold off any early media predictions on what Biden administration will or won’t do, long way to go there and press does have an interest in stirring up conflict

As this WaPo headline demonstrates: “ Harris allies wonder anxiously: Will she have real clout?” I cannot imaging Biden won’t use Harris as much as possible and I doubt anyone but the the most aggrieved on the left believes he wouldn’t.

I love that now every time Jake Tapper refers to 45, he does so as "outgoing President Trump."

Tangent alert: Kinda hated seeing that Billy Joel song used that way even though it's a cool version. I have a soft spot for him as a couple friends have worked for his organization for a long time. By their reports he's about as solid as a boss can be. I'll also confess to going to more than one of his MSG shows. Once out of curiosity and another time after learning that some music friends had never even been inside MSG. I had to take them! Taking somebody to a Billy show at MSG is like taking a kid to the circus. Kind of an unforgettable "NYC thing".

Indeed. And one of those things where a "like" isn't really a like! ;)
