Thanks for the "Katie bar the door" phrase. I grew up hearing my Dad use it and I use it still.

Does anyone else perceive President Biden as very much shining with authority, clarity and firmness when he was in Europe? It seems he enjoys and excels at foreign affairs. And this bores the Press no end. Hence the obsession with gaffes.

Thank you for your work Eric. I cite you frequently in other comment threads.

Prez is doing a great job. You would never know it vis a vis the press and the polls. Dems/Biden are criticized for messaging problems while msm bashes him for small stuff and ignores the rest. How come his policies are popular but he’s not?? DUH 🙄.

And the MSM gives far more attention to inflation than it does to the strong growth of our GDP and number of jobs as well as the strong performance of the stock market. Polls show even people who say their own financial situation is good think we are in a recession. Other polls show that most people think the stock market is in the tank. The media refuses to take any blame.

Biden is very good with people, the exact opposite of Trump. He stepped confidently into the role of leading the opposition to Russia and has been highly successful - another thing the press doesn't want to talk about.

No they don't. I remain baffled by the press. And disappointed.

I'm not baffled at all. And I just finished reading a hit piece in WaPo about Hunter Biden and his alleged financial deals with China that took place when Joe was not in political office. I'm getting seriously fed up.

I have been fed up for years. There has to be a way to make it stop.

I wish I knew what could be done. I feel like one of those old people who rant and rave about how everything's going to hell but nobody listens. Maybe our schools aren't teaching critical thinking the way they should be. Seriously, I think what's behind a lot of the craziness and the lack of good journalism is laziness. People don't want to think. They want to be fed their viewpoints, if they have them at all. And it's been said that humans are not only herd animals who naturally follow others, but that they're hard wired for negativity and anger. I think the GOP's politics of grievance feeds on that. They channel the anger of white people, the one group in society that has nothing to be angry about, and convince them they're victims.

It definitely has a lot to do with how easily Trump picked up support and still has it - his formula still works. And lazy journalists still love how stories about the GOP are low hanging fruit. Imagine, a whole feature story in every news outlet about that little pissant Madison Cawthorn, who - gasp! - accused old GOP dudes of cocaine-fueled debauchery. It's infotainment. Making Joe Biden into a warmongerer over a single sentence is the same lazy journalism.

Me too! It’s hard being the most informed person in the room, and then having to endure the ignorance of those around me, who think they’re informed, but are only parroting Fox “News” talking points. I have learned to keep my mouth shut. It’s just not worth arguing with some of these people.

Removing critical thinking curriculums and focusing exclusively on test results are for sure one of the causes. Being spoon fed propaganda for two decades another.

Not a day goes by when I don't get my ass kicked by some sarcastic and ignorant asshole on the Washington Post, the only newspaper I still subscribe to. The lack of intellect and communication skills is matched by the lack of good manners and the ability to back off when one is wrong. If your readership is made up of people who are merely looking for you to write something they either agree with or want to piss on, are you even a journalist? I just reread the WaPo piece on Hunter Biden, and I'm asking just what the actual fuck these people who wrote it intended. Now Hunter Biden, the feckless drug addict and son of our president, is back in the news for his lucrative dalliances with Chinese businessmen. I'm close to apoplectic.

Beltway Political Propaganda Complex is definitely lazy. I don't think they're very bright either.
